UPSC SCRA Examination 2012 Online Application Submission & Eligibility

Union Public Service Commission UPSC will hold an examination for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways, which will be held on 29th January, 2012 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) in the Gazette of India dated the 22nd October, 2011, as per the details given below: 

• Course Name – Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) Mechanical Departments – Total 42 Seats

Age Limits: A candidate must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years on 1st January, 2012, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1991 and not later than 1st January, 1995. (Age relaxation will be applicable to the special candidates as per the rules see detailed advertisement) 

Essential Qualification: Intermediate Passed with first or Second Division or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board with Mathematics / Physics/Chemistry as main subjects of the examination. 

• Or must have cleared first year examination under three year degree course or first examination of the three year diploma course in Rural Service of the National Council for Rural Higher Education or third year examination for promotion to the fourth year B.A / B.Sc Course of Madras University with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination. 

• Must have passed in the 1st or 2nd division in the Pre Engineering Examination

• Must have cleared first year of the five year engineering course Must have cleared in the 1st or 2nd division the Pre Degree Examination of the Universities of Kerala and Calicut with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination. 

• Must have cleared the Pre Professional / Pre Technological Examination of any Indian University or any recognized Board with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination. 

Physical Standards: Candidates must be have sound health fit in all nature as per the medical standards prepared for SCRA 

Application Fee: Rs 100/- for General/OBC Candidates (No Fee for SC/ST/PH Candidates) shall be paid through any SBI Branch in cash or can pay by net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
