The Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG)
today is a leading institute of the country actively engaged in basic and
applied research in Geomagnetism and allied areas of Atmospheric and Space
Physics, and Plasma Physics. It started out as a successor to the Colaba
observatory, Set up in 1826, where the first regular magnetic observatory in
the country was established in 1841.
IIGM is looking for Following Professionals to fulfill their Vacant Position:
1.
Associate Professor
Qualification: A First class
Master’s degree in Physics/Geophysics or Maths (applied)
Experience: At least 10
years work experience in Geomagnetism and allied fields including
instrumentation and computer
Desirable:
i) Ph.D. in topics related to Geomagnetism, Aeronomy and
allied fields. (ii)Evidence of ability to lead a group and carry
out independent research work of high quality, such as, an outstanding record
of published work.

Navi Mumbai or Dr. K.S. Krishnan Geomagnetic Research Laboratory, Allahabad

The
candidates may apply on the form downloadable at www.iigm.res.in together with the requisite application fee of Rs.
100/- by crossed demand draft. The prescribed application form can also be
obtained from the office of the Registrar by paying an application fee of Rs.
100/- by crossed demand draft in favour of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism,
New Panvel either in person between 10.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on working days
(Monday to Friday) OR it can be obtained by post by sending an application
along with the application fees and a self-addressed stamped envelope of
Rs.10/- super scribing “Request for Application Form”. For SC / ST candidates, application
form will be issued free of cost on production of valid caste certificate.
Filled in applications should reach the Registrar at the above address on or
before 4th February 2011.
Note:
1) Reservation and relaxation in age, fees etc. for Persons with
Disabilities are as per the Govt of India rules 2) The new entrants in the
services would be governed by the New Pension Rules, 2004 issued by Govt. of
India.Note: Manual application by post is mandatory along with online application.
