Essential Qualifications: B. Tech Degree in Urban/ City/ Town/ Regional Planning / Post Graduate Degree in Urban /City/Town/Regional Planning / Civil / Degree or Diploma in Architecture / PhD Degree / 1st class Master Degree / M.Sc. 2nd Class in Physics/ Mathematics/ Forensic Science (Specialization in Forensic Physics & Ballistics) / Master’s Degree in Arts/ Science / Degree in Geology / B. Tech. / B.E. (Environment Engineering/ Environment Science / Bachelor of Dental surgery / Degree in Law from a recognized University / Retired Lt. Col/Major/Capt. Or equivalent ranks from Navy/ Air Force etc. 

Desirable Qualification: Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
